          Monterosso al Mare is one of five towns that form the stunning and popular tourist destination of Cinque Terre on the north-western coast of Italy. The largest and most-visited of Cinque Terre’s picturesque towns, Monterosso is a great place to base your visit to the area, as it offers a wide range of excellent hotels and restaurants, as well as some gorgeous cultural attractions and the only long stretch of beach in the Cinque Terre area. The old town is a typical medieval village with picturesque narrow streets and pastel coloured homes. Vineyards and olive groves surround the town, and visitors will be able to embark on Cinque Terre’s famous and highly recommended 12-km hiking trail from the southern tip of the beach—truly an experience that you will remember.

The area of Cinque Terre is also well known for a 12 km hiking trail that connects the five villages. Start the hike at Monterosso, and take the train back at the end or start by taking the train to the first village, Riomaggiore and begin there, ending in Monterosso. It is a certainly an experience to remember.
